Jean and Aino Sibelius arrived at Monola along Lake Pielinen on two boats tied together, and they also had a square piano rented from Joensuu with them. The same route to Monola will be taken on traditional wooden boats. Upon arriving, you will visit Sibelius’s honeymoon resort, the Monola granary. At the lean-to of the Monolanniemi cape, you can enjoy a panoramic lakeside view across the lake to Koli.

 

Boat trips to Monola for groups from May to October

Boat trips to Monola in July during the Monola Festival 

Boat trips are organized during the Monola Festival week. Ticket €35 includes the boat trip by wooden boats, a life jacket, raingear, guide services, a visit to Monola and campfire coffee at the Monolanniemi lean-to. The boat trips leave from the jetty of Hotel Puustelli, Hovileirinkatu 3, 81700 Lieksa. The trip takes approx. 2 hours. The minimum age for the trip is 5 years.
